China formally joins WTO in Dec 11th 2001.It signs the new era of the China economy. China joins WTO is a new milestone which China join the world finance system. But according to the principle of Trade without Discrimination of WTO, foreign financial service organizations will be permitted to supply foreign currency service in China and no limit. In five years foreign financial service organizations will be permitted to supply renminbi service to all China people. Therefore, domestic financial services industry is facing serious challenge. How to fast enhance the international competition of the China state-owned commerce banks and the China medium and small bank is the problem that was concerned about the bankers and the financial researchers and the people which cares about the development of the bank. The problem affects the existence or the death of the China banks and is concerned about continuous and stable development of China economy.China Merchants Bank is the product of the reform of modern financial system, bearing the imprint of the times, and having their advantages. On the other hand, it is founded so late and has some problems that come from itself. But it has to face serious challenge that comes from the external environment. Specially facing the challenge of WTO and serious challenge of the world financial service organizations, how to select the strategy of China Merchants Bank is becoming more and more important. To design a way that fits the development of China Merchants Bank makes China Merchants Bank to develop its advantage. To fully utilize the opportunity that China joins WTO and properly avoids the threat of foreign banks makes China Merchants Bank to live and develop in challenge. These are very important to the reunion and development of China Middle and Small Bank and the development of the China Finance System. In this thesis, the author is trying to explore the adjustment strategy of China Merchants Bank after China becomes the WTO member.To explore the adjustment strategy of China Merchants Bank after China becomes the WTO member, firstly we need understand the development and the trend of the world finance system and the influence of WTO to domestic financial services industry. Secondly, we need analyze China Middle and Small Bank like China Merchants Bank to suffer how much challenge after China becomes the WTO member. And we need analyze the bank marketing,human resource,the core competition capability of China Merchants Bank, the finally we may depend these factors to formulate the longer target and raise the plan of the adjustment strategy of China Merchants Bank.
