The open fund is the mainstream of the international investment fund presently, and the aggregate hold amount of this kind of fund changes when the supply and demand of the financial market flout. According to the developmental trend of the investment funds, the scale of the open fund has greatly surpassed the close fund. In some of the western counties and regions and those places, which have a perfect financial market for example United States, Japan and Hong Kong, the open funds are adopted. However, lacking of both subjective and objective conditions, most of the investment funds in China are close funds. Meanwhile, it's an obsolete trend that the investment fund will change from close to open with the realization of the conditions. At the same time it's the key point for the development of investment fund in China.The open fund is a kind of superior investment fund and it makes a high demand on the market environment, the investment object and the managerial expert. However the severity market in China is not mature, the financial market is still short of risk-diversificating tools. At the same time the investment funds are simplistic, and most of the fund groups have no steady capital source. Until now there is few inverter in China who can adapt to the open fund, and the superior professional managers with experience are in demand. All these factors have handicapped the development of the open fund in China.After investigating the practice of the open fund in the developed countries the author have studied the origin, characters, development and operation mode of the open fund. Furthermore, in order to enquire into and research the development and operation of the open fund in China, the author have compared the few experimental open funds domestically and analysed the development, operation and management mode of open fund in China.
