Modern logistics is called as the third benefit headspring, the treasury to reduce cost and the strategetic means for enterprise development by western economists and enterprisers. It will play a more and more important role in the economical development of our country. It mainly includes the logistics operation based on transport facilities such as port terminals and storage work and on transportation of ocean transportation, land-carriage and air-ferry. Because 90% of the international freight is finished by ocean transportation, the port is always the biggest freight concentration of the whole transportation chain.Container terminals are the transportation hinge linking ocean and land, an important resource of one country, a door to foreign trade and have a key role to the development of district economy. Container terminal logistics system is an organic system, made of interactive and dynamic components, such as containers, ships, berths, yards, tracks, quay cranes and yard cranes, trucks, labors and communications, in a limited terminal space.According to the characteristics of port container logistics system, this paper does research on the theories and methods for the port container logistics system simulation and modeling.At the beginning of the paper, the composition of the container terminal logistics system in domestic and overseas and the realization and development of computer simulation technology are introduced. Then the paper presents systemically the basic composition of the container terminal logistics system, the layout and characteristics of port and the development of modern port loading and unloading technics mode. It also explains in detail the production process of the container terminal and analyzes the main problems existing in the development of port logistic system.Secondly the paper describes mathematically the steady index for container terminals based on the theory of queue networks and then deals with the events of the queue models of vessel arriving and leaving in this disperse system usingthe event scheduling method.In the development process of simulation model, the paper models the container terminal logistic system from the aspects of the whole design, vessel scheduling management and frontward loading and unloading work. Based on the simulation software WITNESS, two schemes of the quay container cranes scheduling ways and vessel berthing ways are simulated. According to the statistics analyzing of the simulation results, some conclusions are achieved for the reference of the real operation of the container terminal.
