| Veterinary pharmaceuticals industry, one of the most important parts of "Three Medicine Industries", veterinary pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical medicine and pesticide, is a guarantee to prevent from, cure and diagnose animal diseases, push domestic animal aquaculture forward smoothly and keep people healthy.There are 180 veterinary pharmaceuticals manufactures manufacturing different kinds ofveterinary pharmaceuticals in Jiangsu. Their products are mainly pharmaceuticals forlivestock, aquatic creatures and silkworms of three classes, over 10 dosage forms and morethan 900 types with a annual turn-over of one billion RMB. The quantity of these industriesand products is large but the quality has less strong competition in market. There are threereasons: (1) Veterinary pharmaceuticals industry of Jiangsu with good history but a weakfuture development. Especially majority of them with low level and minority with largescale and high level, repeated low level manufactures, the less advanced management, thelow level of labor with simple product structure, all these account for their failure to fit thefierce requirement of market competition. 180 manufactures, among which 90 percent aresmall or middle scale ones, only a couple of industries have an annual turn-over of over100,000,000 RMB, just 16 percent have more than 10 million RMB but other 60 percenthave only from 5 to 6 million RMB which is less than 1/15 of the average level of thosemanufactures in USA, just made an annual turn-over of one billion RMB or so all together.(2) The industry centric and technology creative system hasn't been set up although Jiangsuhas strong scientific research in veterinary pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical fields.Inadequate investment on developing new veterinary pharmaceuticals, low strength ofdeveloping new veterinary pharmaceuticals, the low quality of products and lacking specialresearchers and institutes for basic and clinic study about veterinary Pharmaceuticals are problems existing in these manufactures. There are less than 200 specialists conducting research about developing new veterinary pharmaceuticals all around Jiangsu province. Among 202 new veterinary pharmaceuticals exploited in recent years only two belong to I class new veterinary pharmaceuticals, even only 12 are part of imitative II class veterinary pharmaceuticals, however 170 belongs to IV or V class veterinary pharmaceuticals which accounts for 83 percent. (3) With the development of arrangement of agricultural industries structure and the expansion of intensive manufacturing scale the traditional veterinary pharmaceuticals are not able to satisfy the agricultural modernization and the drug residue in animal products get extensive attention from the society. Therefore it's imperative todevelop new kinds of veterinary pharmaceuticals with higher efficacy and lower toxicity. But most dosage forms of nowadays veterinary pharmaceuticals are injection, tablet or powder with little technology leading to the repeated low level products and vicious competition as well.In today's world competition among pharmaceutical industries is becoming much fiercer daily. Every industry is trying to become globalization, larger scale and intension in order to improve its competition. Especially big pharmaceutical industries in developed countries have become the 'Big Mac' and entered our market through market operating international fund, building worldwide chain manufacturing and management branch institutes, expanding the sale net and market quanta. Pharmaceutical economy is an economy with rapid development of science and technology in 21th century. Science and technology, the first productive force, plays a more and more significant role in economy.
