A Study On The Leap-forward Development Of Shenzhen Industrialization

It takes only twenty-five years for Shenzhen to become a modern city from a small town. The "Speed of Shenzhen" once surprises the world. To study how Shenzhen grows up so fast during its industrialization is significant for Shenzhen industrialization and modernization in the future. Based on the characteristic of leap-forward development, this thesis argues by comparing with the accepted industrialized theories that the industrialization of Shenzhen has skipped over some stages to catch up with the current industrialized level. The first chapter of this thesis summarizes the industrialized theories and finds out the theoretical evidence for industrial leap-forward development. The second to the fourth chapter empirically analyses the industrialization of Shenzhen from three aspects respectively. The second chapter divides the industrialized stage of Shenzhen and evaluates its industrialized level. We find that the speed of Shenzhen industrialized evolvement is so rapid that it spent a short period evolving from the primary stage to the senior stage after Shenzhen started the primary stage at the low level. The third chapter discusses the structural evolvement and characteristic of Shenzhen including three-industry structure, heavy industrialization, highly processing, and the dominant industrial transformation. We find that the industrialization of Shenzhen has skipped over the stage mainly based on raw material industries and the stage mainly based on heavy-chemical industries is not obvious. The fourth chapter discusses the causes of the leap-forward development of Shenzhen industrialization including productive elements, market function, exoteric economy and industrial policy. The fifth chapter summarizes the characteristic and implication of the leap-forward development of Shenzhen industrialization.
