On People's Courts Founded In Rural Area

People's courts founded in rural area are outside divisions of People's Court of P.R.China at grass roots level and are set up according to the laws. They mainly exist in rural area of China and in a large number. There are some deficiencies in their actual trials, such as the judges' lack of power, bearing of too much trivial works and the high expenses on lawsuits. All these factors make the question whether to abolish this kind of people's court or retain them become inevitable to be considered when coming to the judicial reform. However, due to the less development of the rural economy and the deterioration of the rural social conflicts during the transformation period, people's courts in rural area still have their functions in a long time. Only by intensifying and standardizing their construction can the concept "Justice serves people" be implemented and realized in these areas.
