Research On Material Supply Management System Of Iron & Steel Industry

After our country entering WTO, under the stress of competition from the counterparts of home and of abroad, group management become an inevitable development trend for iron & steel industry to enhance its competition ability. But in the domestic iron & steel company, material supply cannot meet the requirement of grouping management. The slack information and the behindhand management schema are the essential problems existing in material supply of enterprise, and must be resolved through information technology and advanced management schema.As new concepts of logistics management development, SCM and 3PL (third party logistics) are gradually paid more and more attention by manufacturing enterprise recent years. After enterprises merging to a group, SCM and 3PL theory could be utilized in material supply management of the group. That's will make material supply management be united and centralized, and optimize material supply management, and also increase purchasing efficiency and material quality, and control the quality of purchasing material, decrease overstock and transportation cost, achieve the goal of controlling cost and raising incomes.Business processes analysis and optimization of material supply management, system design modeling, and developing, and system application case are discussed in this paper, combining the practice of material supply management in Northeast Special Iron & Steel Group. The main contents are as follows:1. Purchasing schema combining centralized purchasing with collaborative purchasing and confederative inventory management schema are presented according to the traits of material supply and group development requirement of iron & steel enterprise.2. To meet the requirement of enterprise group development, SCM and 3PL are utilized to optimize business process of material supply, against the deficiency in traditional one of purchasing and inventory management. On this base, general model of material supply management system is designed, and information integration with other subsystems is realized.3. Software frame of material supply material system is presented, and system is designed and developed, combining with the actual requirement of material supply in Northeast Special Iron & Steel Group.Material supply management system of Northeast Special Iron & Steel Group now is running in purchasing management department and storage management center. Through the system running, material supply management platform of group is unified, integration of correlative business and information is well realized, work efficiency and enterprise benefit are improved, and the material stock and purchasing cost are decreased.
