Iron and steel industry is one of the most important industries in our country. The yield of iron and steel is over a hundred millions tons per year, which is one fifth of all over the world and equals to the total of US and Japan. With the development, there are some problems in iron and steel industry, such as the high cost, excess investment, waste of resource and overproduce, ect. There are many relationships with other industries, so its development has an effect on them and then on the country economy. It's an urgent issue to solve the problems that how to reduce cost and to increase benefit. This paper studies the theories of input-output model in iron and steel industry and makes it into practice considering the current situations based on input-output analysis. Firstly, we analyze the input-output model and the relationships between the iron and steel industry and other industries, then we research Baotou iron and steel factory and this will support other iron and steel firms and will facilitate the development of iron and steel industry.
