Research On Market Power In Power Market From Theory And Practice

Aiming at generators exercise market power in power market, this paper introduces market power based on national and international research about it. This paper expounds the causes of market power, indices of market power and mitigation of market power. Then this paper studies the effect of market power in different pattern and settlement method. For different pattern, it analyses market power from generators' bidding and introduces game theory. For different settlement method, it analyses market power from price and quantity. Last through comparing the share of generators and analyzing the relativity between them, this paper puts forward a method for the regulation department to regulate market power. Moreover, aiming at the market pattern and settlement method of northeast area power market, this paper brings forward some reference advices to mitigate market power.
