Path Dependence In The Transformation And Innovation Of Rural Land System In China

Path Dependence Theory of western new Institutional Economics is applied in the thesis to investigate and research the transformation and innovation of rural land system in China. The author believed that establishment of the rural family Contracted Responsibility System is resulted from Path Dependence, which is led by the combination and evolution of rural land private right system, farming technique system and centralization system. In the process of the evolution of the above systems, environment nature and initial system are constantly strengthened and a series of historical events continuously effect terms of laws. Those binding terms compel the system to progress toward one that will more thoroughly guarantee the farmers' long-term rights of land use.This thesis is divided into four parts. Firstly, the introduction sums up the present developing conditions of the rural land system, its predicament faced and the present major views of academic community. And so, the researching train of thought and emphasis are put forward; the second part gives information of Path Dependence Theory in detail and discusses how to apply the theory to analysis of system evolution; the third part investigate the initial terms ofthe rural family Contracted Responsibility System and a series of historical events are analyzed here; the fourth part emphatically analyses the orientation that the Contracted Responsibility System evolves to and reform to and introduces some typical pattern of innovation of rural land system; the last part is based on the above analysis and in this part author put forward a train of thought about innovation of rural land system.The paper' s innovation lies in the following: when the land system is analyzed in this paper, the research method of new economic history is applied. The author sets forth the target pattern and essential frame of the land system reformation on the base of analysis to history of land system.
