The problem of the Populist ideological tendency in modern Chinese society and in the course of China's revolution is a focus concerned in the academic circle. In the history of the Communist Party of China, Qu Qiubai clearly and definitely criticized the Populist ideological tendency in the Party. But what on earth is the Populism understood and criticized by Qu Qiubai? What is the source of such an understanding? What are its characteristics? Up to now no systematic thesis on it has been found. Although a few scholars have discussed the problem in their essays, only is it discussed casually and no deep study can be found on the problem. Therefore, this thesis begins from Qu Qiubai's essay Strategies of China's Revolution and Peasant Movement, analyses and studies Qu's criticism on Populism and interprets the problem mentioned above. The author thinks that Qu's criticism on the ideological tendency of Populism in China's society is mainly oriented toward the practical problems confronted in the process of China's revolution. It is especially focused on problems on how to view peasants' ideological tendency of equalitarianism and how to correctly understand the nature of China's revolution. And these understandings and criticism once were greatly influenced by relevant formulation of Lenin and the Communist International.
