The Establishment And Application Of The Indicator System Of The Urban Modernization In Jiangxi Province

Content: Modernization is a dynamic process; it is not only a sign of the civilization of the persistent development of human, it is also a future trend of the society development. Urban modernization is a nuclear of the national or regional modernization, and urban modernization is becoming the target for each big city to pursue in China since urban modernization is the infallible trend of the development of city. However, urban modernization is a long-term process, and in different countries and different regions, the development of modernization is in different stage, so we should take the principle of adaptation to local conditions when we make the development strategy of modernization. Therefore, to choose suitable urban modernization strategies and countermeasures is a project of actuality and theoretical meaning after we can understand the meanings and corresponding implications inherent in modernization and urban modernization and evaluate the process of urban modernization correctly.In this article, the author inquires the meanings and corresponding implications inherent in modernization and urban modernization firstly, then sets up the indicator system of the urban modernization of Jiangxi province, evaluates the urban modernization level in 2002 of some cities of Jiangxi province, and analyzes the existing advantages and disadvantages during the process of the urban modernization development in Jiangxi province, finally makes some countermeasures and suggestions to improve the development of the urban modernization.The article includes five parts. The first part is the preface; the second part analyses the modernization theory since 1950s, from the analysis we can know that different modernization theory incarnate different views of modernization development and China has formed the fundamental tendency that industrialization and informationization develop together and the first modernization and the second modernization exist together, in this part, the author also studies the meanings and corresponding implications inherent in modernization and urban modernization and points out that the Chinese urban modernization must follow the world pace andassimilate the advanced modernization theory and the new views of development. The third part mainly sets up the indicator system on the base of determining the modernization stage of Jiangxi province and in the principle of the indicator system of urban modernization, and in this part the author also has determined the standard value of each indicator on the grounds of the actuality of Jiangxi province. The fourth part builds up the overall evaluation model of the urban modernization of Jiangxi province, and uses this model to evaluate the urban modernization level in 2002 of eleven cities and ranks with the modernization level, then analyzes the results. The last part studies the existing advantages and disadvantages during the development process of modernization and makes out some useful strategies and countermeasures, which can improve the urban modernization development of Jiangxi province.
