The Research On Chinese Rural Filial Piety In Contemporary Society Transition Period

Filial piety as an important element of Chinese traditional culture has exerted a major influence on peasant's life,education and culture. However, facing that the rural area is appearing the shortage of filial piety during the period of social transformation, the expression of the missing filial piety is teased out, which is based on the investigation in this case. Those are: young sons travelling far without direction, leaving the elderly without obligation of support; people paying attention to the children but ignoring their elderly parents, causing the imbalance of human ethics; valuing the intelligence but neglecting morality, thus making filial piety landslide; evaluation being weakened and environment causing people to concern. Why do these problems come up? The reasons of the rural lack of filial piety from the social, economic and cultural aspects are analyzed in the article. The factors are as follows: peasant-workers problems bring about challenges to inheritance in traditional filial piety, and the left behind children issue has adverse effects on carrying on filial piety in rural area; the structural reform of rural industry triggers off changes in family relationship and the market economy system weakens traditional perception of filial piety; the critical questions on filial piety and cultural traditions brought by peasants lead to shaking the foundation of filial piety, and Mass Media in rural area misleads aesthetic sense or notions, weakening the propaganda of traditional culture of filial piety. However, frankly speaking, the essence of the traditional filial piety possesses historical inheritance, thus the reasonable factors of the concept of filial piety can be generally recognized by peasants, and the environment of civilization construction about the new countryside is beneficial. From the three aspects, the article analyses the possibility of the construction about new filial piety in the social transformation period and brings up the main contents : taking concept of honour or disgrace under core values as leading factors, providing for the elderly in the background of their offspring travelling far, making the elders and juniors each in their places on the base of balance in ethics, giving filial piety education under the principle of ethics of responsibility, providing moral valuation in rural civilization construction. In addition, sticking to the rule that new rural filial piety is commanded by the system of socialist core values , which should be in accordance to socialist market economy, resonance with socialist principles and law and connection with Chinese fine traditions. Then it's also necessary to do from law constraints, village principles, moral consensus, self-cultivation, etc.
