A Study On The Filial Piety Concept And Behavior Of The Children Of Rural Migrant Workers ——From The Perspective Of Descendant Type

With the breaking of the dual economic system between urban and rural areas,the rapid development of China’s industrialization has led to the outflow of a large number of rural laborers,and the rural areas have gradually become hollowed out and weakened.Under the background of population aging and mobility,the living space of rural migrant children and elderly parents is separated,and the traditional "serving on the side" family pension model is no longer realistic.As the children of migrant workers are affected by the values of urban modernization,the traditional concept of filial piety of "advocating the elderly" and "not violating" has gradually weakened,and the content and methods of filial piety are also changing.At the same time,the traditional pension main body focuses on the sons and daughters of blood relations,accompanied by the improvement of women’s status and the phenomenon of fewer children,so that daughters-in-law and son-in-law also occupy a place in the family pension support.Therefore,this paper combines the vertical blood relationship and the horizontal marriage relationship to give a broader meaning to the offspring type,and the study of the pension problem of rural families not only focuses on sons and daughters,but also pays attention to the important subject of daughters-in-law and son-in-law.In order to improve the intergenerational relationship between the children of rural migrant workers and their parents,and improve the quality of old-age care for elderly parents.This paper uses the data of the "Rural Migrant Worker Survey" conducted in Shaanxi Province,Henan Province and Hunan Province in early 2018,guided by the theory of family modernization,social exchange theory and altruistic motivation theory,and uses factor analysis to divide the concept of filial piety into "feedback filial piety" and "support type filial piety",and filial piety is measured by the dimensions of economic support,life support and emotional support in family pension support.Firstly,based on the perspective of offspring types（sons,daughters-in-law,daughters,sons-in-law）,the current situation of filial piety and filial piety behavior of rural migrant children in the treatment of parents under the background of population mobility and aging is analyzed;secondly,the influence of children’s flow information on the overall filial piety concept,feedback filial piety concept and support filial piety concept is analyzed by using multiple linear regression methods;third,the influence of filial piety concept and flow information on filial piety behavior is further analyzed by constructing a hierarchical random intercept model.The differences in filial piety concepts and filial piety behaviors between different offspring types were compared,and finally,according to the research results,suggestions were made to improve the pension model of modern families in rural areas from the social level,family level and government level.The results of the study show that: first,the filial piety concept of rural migrant workers scored higher,showing the "altruistic" tendency of supportive filial piety in ideology,indicating that traditional filial piety did not show a decline trend;Second,from the analysis of the current situation of filial piety,it can be seen that married men show the characteristics of "favoring one over the other" for the filial piety of their parents and their spouses’ parents,and married women show the characteristics of "taking care of both parents at the same time";Third,on the whole,the flow of married children has significantly improved the recognition of filial piety concepts;Fourth,compared with the overall concept of filial piety and feedback-type filial piety,the higher the recognition of the concept of supportive filial piety by the children of migrant workers,the more they can enhance the support for their parents’ pension,indicating that the idea of "altruism" has played an important role in the promotion of intergenerational support.Based on this,this paper puts forward the following targeted policy suggestions to improve the rural family pension system and improve the quality of elderly parents’ pension:construct a contemporary new "filial piety culture" at the social level,inherit the essence of China’s traditional excellent filial piety culture,and create a good social filial piety environment and atmosphere;Reshape the contemporary new "pension concept" at the family level,children should assume the responsibility of dual identity,division of labor and cooperation,mutual assistance for the elderly;improve the contemporary new "pension system" at the government level,and develop rural characteristic industries.Explore diversified pension models,and realize the transformation from family pension to institutional pension and mutual assistance for the elderly.
