The labor dispute settlement mechanism is an important mean of promoting a harmonious and stable labor relations, it has played an important role in the coordination of labor conflict and dispute, safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of both the labor relations. But as the subject consciousness of the enterprises and labors strengthened, whereas it is distempered in the relevant legal systems and the setting-up institutions, as well as the supporting environment, thus collision of interests between laborers and employing units become apparent, and labor dispute is on the increase, becoming more violent and complex, leading the result of petitioners keeping running in top and groupment incidents increasing. Research on how to improve the labor dispute settlement mechanism in the promotion of harmonious society and economic development is the starting point and aim of the context.Led by the theory of labor relations, public management and public policy, with the labor dispute handling mechanism for the objective analysis, the context adopts normative research and empirical study together on the suggestions and consummate countermeasures for the labor dispute settlement mechanism, in furtherance of the coordination and effective solutions of the labor conflict and dispute, and making a contribution for a harmonious labor relation and harmonious society.Firstly, the labor dispute settlement mechanism is introduced to find out the imperfections existed, putting its emphasis on the development of the labor dispute and the treatment mode of the labor dispute at the present stage. Secondly, advanced experiences from the developed countries based on its different labor relations modes were introduced to make comparison and analysis, concluding the illumination to China. At last, from the view of public administration, putting the government as the role of building institution, safeguarding rights and interests, coordinating conflict and providing services, it comes up with suggestions and countermeasures for the improvement and perfection of the labor dispute settlement mechanism in China.
