| Since the reform and opening, economic construction of China has made great achievements, the rule of law has also made considerable progress. However, there are still many unstable and disharmony factors in our society, part of the remained issues in reform did not resolve yet. New problems is gradually appearing. At this time ,the CPC Central Committee formally proposed " harmonious society" concept, which is timely and correctly.As a unique part in China's traditional legal culture."Harmony"has always been a social ideal and a valuable heritage of Chinese traditional culture which has been pursued by Chinese. After several years of slow evolution and improvement ,the idea of harmony and its system practice in traditional society has been deeply rooted in the ancient political system and social life. By digging the traditional legal culture values and legal practice of harmony, looking for the reasonable meaning of the idea, trying to find a reasonable reasons for long-term stability of ancient society, exploring the reasons of the development of traditional law, It must help the legislative and judicial improvement of China which is in the transition period, and provide protection and reference for building a harmonious society.The thesis investigated traditional legal culture from the perspective of building a harmonious society, trying to discover the factors of harmony and provide reference for today's society. The first part analyzed the meaning of the traditional legal culture, try to explain the values it contains. The second part discussed the requirement of corresponding support and protection of the legal culture to build a harmonious society. The third part introduced the enlightenment and the value of traditional legal culture, which is analyzed from the ideological and institutional aspects. The fourth section describe the traditional resources which can be learned from the traditional legal culture, and how to combine with the governance of modern society.
