Child-Friendly Spaces(Spaces for short) is a newborn thing of Community Work to Children, originating in children protection at the scene of an emergency. In the aftermath of the May 12 earthquake that strunk WenChuan in SiChuan province, from the basic concepts of emphasis on"children protection in an emergency state", and drawing on the experience of other countries to establish the Child Friendly Spaces(environment) after disasters and armed conflicts, UNICEF and the National Working Committee on Children and Women (NWCCW) have started-up"Child-Friendly Spaces"project in the hardest hit areas of earthquake-affected in Sichuan province, covering 21 townships in 8 prefectures, combined to establish forty Child-Friendly Spaces offer the earthquake-affected children and families a complete package of community-based services, including games, entertainments, education, health and psycho-Social support, to help children to avoid unfavorable influence of earthquake as soon as possible and then return to normal life.At present, It has basically formed into three main models, that is, community-based model, school-based (or kindergarten–based) model and volunteer-based model, among them the first two models are the most important. Its main fundation gradually expands to form the new model of community-based child protection, merging on issues of conducting theme program, many kinds of knowledge and skills training, focusing on special impoverished children, and working in close cooperation with community into one whole.In the study, the researcher concerns on the clients, collecting data by the way of participate in observations and in-depth interviews from HongBai Child-Friendly Spaces, interviewing with 14 children, 9 parents, and 3 Space workers, as well as some local residents, and other neighborhood workers. Mainly from the following five-part analysis:PartⅠ: Study Preparation. From the literature review, concept definition, research design and methodology, research perspective and other aspects which are a good ready to the study.PartⅡ: Presenting the Space Story. The part is mainly to present the children's story of in the Space, and story of Parents and staff as a supplement.PartⅢ: Space Story Reflections. Under the context of the local culture, we can feel and reflect on the children's discourse story, explore many kinds of their meanings , then from perspective of children to reflect the local-experiences of community-based child service.PartⅣ: Conclusions. On the premise of the local cultural background, we can have conclusion that the development model characters of Spaces local experience are: a collective public space; a top-down and bottom-up common definitions; is a kind of localization of professional development in the acquaintance of a convenient rural Gemeinschaft; is a Community Children's Resource Centre which connect school, community, family roles as a whole.PartⅤ: Research Challenges and Disadvantages. Analysising challenges and disadvantages of the study we can do some contributions to the further research in this field.
