Multilateralism provides an effective way for Japan dream of great powers in the new century and provides a theoretical guidance for Japan return to Asia. Multilateralism theory complies with the current goal of Japan's national interests. Multilateralism inherent characteristics make Japane chose the road of multilateralism; also is an important way for Japan returnning to Asia; meet the need of Japan's pursuit of great power; also provide effective protection for Japan maintaining the leading position in Asia in the future. Therefore, Japan has chosen the road of multilateralism. But Japan will not be too smooth in this path. Although multilateralism already accepted and recognized, but the Japanese in Asia to construct the east Asian community by multilateralism means in many ways are questionable and thinking.
