On Studying The Evolution Of The Indonesian Party System

Indonesia,which is a member of the Association of Southeast Asian,has achieved successfully from an authoritarian collection that is full of personal—dictatorship and military rule to a democratic state,and its party system also changed from one-party dominanted to Competitive multi-party system.In fact,the Western multiparty system has a strong impact on the party transformation of Indonesia. On the one hand, the institutional framework of Indonesia party is based on a competitive multi-party system which is from western country;on the other hand,it is modeled and integrated by the traditional culture of Indonesian nation, and it has been a propeller in political democratization of Indonesia.Therefor,the paper will clarify the evolution of the party system in Indonesia, analysis the political behavior of each strata and classes,and the reasons for the party transformation of Indonesia. Meanwhile,sum up outstanding features of party system,and study the function and action of the party system in Indonesia's social and political life.
