The main driving elements for China to build up soft power are to seek for the status of a rising power, to fight as a soft mean to contend against the containment of the western countries, and to confront the fierce international competition on soft power. As for the approaches to the strong soft power, the Chinese academic community give high praise on building up stepping-out cultural strategy, building value system and institutions, enhancing the external spreading capability of Chinese mass media, and improving the national image.
