China's Peaceful Rise Of Soft Power Upgrade Process

Thirty years of reform and opening up, China’s economy growth rapidly, has become thesecond largest economy in the world, and the international position is rising too. On thenational hard power, China can be said to have entered the ranks of great powers.The rise ofChina has attracted the attention of the whole world. Throughout history of the world, almostall of the rise of great powers are related to the wars, while China is the country that havesuffered the humiliation of the Western, so the rise of China will lead the west countries toworry whether China would choose war to rise.On the other hand, China as the few socialistcountries, its ideology is different with the western’s, so the resistance of the rising China willbe greater. Facing the predicament, the rise of China will decide on what path to follow is acrucial problem. The way of the rise often be more concerned than the rise itself, China’speaceful rise not only is critical to China, but also is an important issue for the world.The rise of a country should be the enhancement of national comprehensive strength,and the national comprehensive strength includes both the hard power and the soft power.Our country’s hard power is strong, so we should take greater attention on the soft power.Throughout the history of the world, all of the rise of great powers,their soft power hasplayed an important role. Especially today that globalization is in deepening, as the importantpart of the national comprehensive strength, soft power plays a crucial role in a country’s rise.That is to say, the rise of China needs the soft power. On the other hand, because of thehistorical and realistic conditions, Chinese always adhere to the road of peaceful development,China’s rise is peaceful, it needs to improve the national soft strength. Because thefundamental characteristics of soft power is un-mandatory, it is consistent with the peace ofthe peaceful rise. Analysis of China’s soft power at present, there are advantages andproblems. Advantages include that China has rich cultural resources, advancing perceptionswith the times, the attraction of "China model" and the "responsible great power" image. Andthe problems can’t be ignored, such as the cultural value appeared disproportionatedevelopment deviation, the national identity and trust has declined, the loss of talent, and theinternational institutions’ identity can’t match with the national strength......all of these showthat the national soft power has become a pressing matter of the moment. Facing the situation,how China will enhance its soft power is also an important topic.Based on the above considerations, this paper chose the "Improving soft power in theprocess of China’s peaceful rise" as the research subject. Based on the understanding of thetheories of international relations, and deepening the understanding of the theories of soft power and national image, the paper tries to reflect and discuss the necessity and approachesof China’s soft power construction. This research has been through thirty years of reform andopening up, China’s peaceful rise, will promote the world know China, understand Chinesepolicies, recognition of China’s behavior, promote China to integrate better into theinternational community, and will increase cultural awareness for sustainable developmentand peaceful rise in the twenty-first Century. In short, no matter in theory or practice, it is ameaningful and valuable work, especially for the present stage of China, it is a pressingmatter of the moment.In this paper, using literature analysis to collect data; using comparative analysis tocompare analysis of the history and reality of the rising powers, to explore the problemsabout China’s peaceful rise and the promotion of the soft power.Through the research, the author believes that, in the context of globalization, the rise ofChina is bound to choose peaceful way, and to realize the peaceful rise of China must payattention to the promotion of soft strength.
