Study On Reforms Of Procedures Of WTO Dispute Settlement Mechanism

WTO dispute settlement mechanism has a central role in the WTO legal system that provides a powerful implementation of the safeguards for the multilateral trading system without this mechanism, the trade disputes between members can not be effectively resolved. If so, any substantive WTO rules will become nothing and WTO system will also be unnecessary to be existed. As described above, WTO dispute settlement mechanism is treated as " WTO's most unique contribution," and by far is generally considered as the most accomplished and the most effective implement mean of legal protection in international economic and trade communications. WTO's operation process comprised of consultation, panel, appeal procedures and implementation is included in "Understanding on Rules and Procedures Governing the Settlement of Dispute," and its annexes. This thesis starts from the above four phrases and consists of three parts:Part One is general introduction of the four phrases; the second part discusses the existing problems of them; the last part is about the systematic studies on the reforms of them.
