As the economic and the interdependence of East Asian countries develop rapidly, the cooperation between East Asian countries became more closer, which makes the region into the arena as the rising star. East Asian regionalism has its unique characteristics: on the content point of view, compare with the old regionalism, new regionalism began to research more fields, such as economic, security and social cooperation. Moreover, the development mode of East Asian regionalism is special. Unlike the European Union and the North American Free Trade Area, development of East Asia is really from bottom to up with non-government lead, the countries are not the policy makers. In addition, both outside and inside regions, such as the United States, China, Japan, Korea, ASEAN have made different strategic decisions for their different interests. All of these determine the future of East Asian regionalism cooperation and have an important impact.This article is divided into four parts: Part A: theoretical review of regionalism, mainly explain the concept of regionalism, characteristics, classification deeply, lay a theoretical foundation for understanding the characteristics of East Asian regionalism.The second part is about the content of the East Asian regionalism. The ASEAN "10 +3", the ASEAN "10 +1" and the ASEAN Summit are the examples which described and analyzed the characteristics and the impact of their existence in East Asia.The third part describes the characters of the East Asian regionalism. Combining constructivist theory, realism theory, analysis it's characteristics, the special development model, the trends and the principles. This become the realistic basis for making strategic decisions.The fourth part is to deal with the policy of regionalism in East Asia. By interpreting the interests of the United States, Japan, China, East Asia, analysising the impact of regional cooperation, providing a realistic basis for China to formulate policies.
