Compared with those firms in developed countries, technological capability gap is the main reason why our firms can't compete with them except the difference of poverty system., technology transfer is the most important method for firms of developing countries to obtain technology. Manufacturing cooperation and R&D cooperation are the most effective ways to improve technological capability. So ,this paper concentrates on the two cooperation types and the promotion effect they have on the local firms' technological capability.Based on the theory of cooperation, we explore the opportunities of cooperation between our firms and multinational companies by observing the change of multinational companies' strategies. Following the principle that our firms should cooperate with multinational companies based on the practical ability, we try to discuss two types of cooperation, one is an buyer-supplier manufacturing cooperation, and the other is R&D cooperation. The technological capability of a firm can be developed from the ability of operating machines, ability of imitating, ability of bringing forth new ideas based on imitation and ability of creating new ideas completely through the cooperative causes from simply processing and assembling, manufacturing of standard products and spare parts, further designing of products and completely creating of products. The process of knowledge transfer and learning of organization show us the development of technological capability. In the end, we bring forward some suggestions to solute the problem existing during the practice of our firms' improving their technological capability through coopering with multinational companies.
