This paper includes five sections: The first section is the introduction, which includes three parts-the background, the logic and methods of my research and the dynamic related research in both China and abroad. The growth of economy depends increasingly on producing, transmitting, and utilizing the knowledge efficiently, and both information and knowledge are becoming the key factors to create the wealth. KM(knowledge management), which is more and more important for enterprise and country in competing with others , brings deep research in academic field and wide implementation in enterprises since 1990's. At present, there is no intact theoretical system. Most scholars abroad make the definition from two angles that respectively lie in the targets and the characters of KM, on which Chinese scholars do some researching. What should be reminded is the KM implementation contributes a lot to the theory of KM. This paper tries to explain the basic contents of KM, answers how to implement KM and emphasizes the special works of consulting companies in promoting Chinese informationization. There are historical analysis and comparative analysis in this paper, and importantly, there are many case studies, and one of which was based on the practice of the author. The second section: the Basic Theory of KM. This part introduces the basic contents of KM, the KM system and the related techs and products. KM, focusing on the knowledge and the knowledge activities, includes discerning, obtaining and developing knowledge and the transmitting, utilizing and storing of it. Knowledge is different from data and information and can be divided into codification knowledge and tacit knowledge, and the aim of KM is to help organization share the two kinds of knowledge and stimulate innovations. KM system is the base to realize KM, which utilizes the intranet & extranet and combines KM techs to benefit knowledge activities, and the map of knowledge, professor system and BBS system are important contents of KM system. Lotus Notes Domino and MS Exchange Server are good KM system products, and the TGA of Merrill Lynch Company and both the KWorld of KPMG are examples of good combined KM systems. The third section: the Implementation of KM. This part answers six questions. The first is what is the current global status in knowledge management implementation. Just like many world-famous companies, more and more Chinese enterprises are becoming to realize the importance of KM and begin to take actions, which signs for a bright future of the market in KM software products and KM services. The second question is how to make a balanced KM strategy between the codification strategy and the personalization strategy? Through doing comparative analysis both in American consulting companies and in American IT companies, this article suggests that the boss should fullyconsider its operating style, economic model, human resources and so on. The third part introduces the procedure of KM implementation. The forth question is how to do assessment, which emphasizes that two kinds of ways, the qualitative method and the quantitative method, should be taken during the whole assessment. The opinion of PKM-processing knowledge management is proposed in the fifth part. The last question is how to create a learning organization, including how to reform in structure and culture when building such a modern enterprise. The forth section: Case study of AMT-the special contribution done by consulting companies in Chinese informationizaiton. Since 1980's, Chinese consulting companies have experienced mixed and disordered periods and begin to enter into a new one that emphasizes modern brand management. AMT is a Chinese leading consulting company in the information management areas such as KM, ERP, BPM and so on. Like AMT, many Chinese consulting companies are among the first to aggressively explore IT to capture and disseminate knowledge, which help them to do KM and to popularize it in their customers. This point is especially important to Chinese imformationzation. The fifth section: conclusion. Some questions about KM theory and realistic problems when doing implementation in china are proposed in this part. How to combine the related contents of economics, management, informatics and linguistics to create an intact KM...
