A Study On The Impacts Of The Issue Of Labor Standards Upon Chinese Foreign Trade And The Countermeasures Of China

While the members of WTO are disputing on weather to involve the issue of labor standards into the WTO's multilateral system, this issue is going forward in the unilateral and territorial fields. Moreover its practical influence upon numerous developing countries, including China, has become more and more tremendous because of its nongovernmental trend. This dissertation principally adopts qualitative research method. Initially , the article has presented the rules of the issue of labor standards, the evolution of the issue, and the issue's essential. In succession, the article has stated the issue's status in quo and its latest trends, especially its nongovernmental trend. Thereupon, the impacts of this issue upon Chinese foreign trade has been analyzed. At the end of this dissertation, the propositions of Chinese countermeasues are put forward. The following is the framework of this dissertation. In the first section, Rules and the evolution of the issue of labor standards have been introduced. And then, the issue's essential is delimited. It is pointed out that, we should differentiate various labor standards among each countries from their different labor costs, as well as we should recognize the neutral nature of the issue. In the second section, status in quo and the latest trends of the issue of labor standards have been stated. These consist of the development of the issue in multinational fields, regional field, and unilateral field. Especially, the issue's nongovernmental trend is emphasized in this section. As to the new trend, the article attaches most importance to the multinational corporations. The production regulations and social liabilities movements initiated by the mulitnational corporations have been introduced. And nearly correlative international authentications, consumer's movements, and social liability label system are narrated either. The third section is composed of multianalysis of the impacts of the issue of labor standards upon Chinene foreign trade. Respectively , they are the issue's impacts upon Chinese labor-intensive export industry, upon Chinese labor-intensive export enterprises, upon the trade conflicts between China and other countries, upon Chinese introducing and utilizing of foreign captial, upon Chinese position of its state competitive power, as well as the impcts upon Chinese market economic status. The fourth part of the dissertation brings forward Chinese government's countermeasures toward the development of the issue of labor standards in multilateral, regional, and unilateral fields, as well as the enterprises'countermeasures toward the issue's nongovernmental trend.
