The Formation And Development Of Human Rights Protection In The West

Human rights protection is always the highest cause that humanity strives for, and it is also one of the focuses of research and studies in law circle today. The cause of human rights can not develop without the effective mechanism of human rights protection. Human rights protection thoughts have underground a long history of development from their origin in ancient Greek, through their formation in the Enlightenment period, till their multi-dimensional development today. Therefore, it is of great significance to sort out the history of the development of human rights protection thoughts in the West, especially when we want to keep pace with the tendency of the theorization of human rights protection and solve the problems involved. The thesis attempts to explore the formation and development of thoughts on human rights protection from the new perspective of social contract theory that has occupied an important position in the history of law culture in the West.The thesis consists of five parts. The first part is the preface that mainly introduces the basic ideas and features of the thoughts of Western human rights protection. The second part probes into the sprout of human rights protection ideas implied in the general social contract thoughts that originated from the ancient Rome and Greek. The third part focuses on the historical condition in which how the classical social contract thought formed that has a direct influence on the formation of the Western human rights protection thought.
