Foreign entry mode strategy decision is one of the most important issues in the internationalization process. It is the very topic in this thesis.The study contains five chapters.Chapter 1 shows the background of this study, unit of analysis, existent study of the topic, the purpose of this study and the organization of this study. In addition, this section gives explanation of the concepts of Zhejiang's Non-governmental Technology-intensive Enterprises and foreign entry mode.Chapter 2 makes a thorough literature review. After that, it is held that there is some research gaps to close, say, to study in the method of survey on foreign entry modes based on enterprises and industries at the same time. So the present thesis aims to fill up the gap.Chapter 3 develops a research model and forms hypotheses. It classifies foreign market entry modes hierarchically. This method can decompose a complex decision into a hierarchical process, thus it is suitable to adopt a small set of critical variables for managers to monitor at each level. After that, previous studies on main variables at each level that influence firm's foreign entry mode are presented. Based on this, this study explores new variables and presents the hypotheses. Later, It gives a generalizing approach of how to appraise the performance.Chapter 4 presents research design and analysis findings. Through direct interview or survey, eight cases verify that merchants' web, entry barrier, industry character and business strategy influence the foreign entry mode strategy of Zhejiang's Non-governmental Technology-intensive Enterprises. Furthermore, the Analytic Hierarchy Process is used to test how much the four each essential factors affects the foreign entry mode strategy of Zhejiang's Non-governmental Technology-intensive Enterprises. Then it discusses the findings.Chapter 5 gives the conclusion of this study. On the one hand, it emphasizes not only the managerial implications but also the theoretical contribution; on the other hand, it shows the limitations of this study and suggests the further research areas.
