In this paper we analyze the conflicts resolution process in Sub Saharan Africa in 1990s. The paper focuses on peacekeeping experiences through the continent and point out the efforts and the willingness of African regional and sub regional organizations to deal with conflicts in their continent. Our analysis is subdivided in four chapters. The first chapter discusses the international response to African countries in the post cold war period, it focus on their mechanism and their operations. The second chapter for its part examines the initiatives of African regional and sub regional organizations specially the Organization of African Unity (OAU). the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the Southern Africa States Community (SADC) and the Inter-Government Action for Development (IGAD) in East. The third chapter analyses the limits and difficulties of the peacekeeping operations it focuses on the reasons for what almost all operations failed to fund the purpose. And in the last chapter, we try to make clearly out the challenges and the perspectives of conflict resolution. In this chapter we try to show how international actors and African should cooperate to deal efficiently with conflicts through the region.
