| ASEAN was forged in 1967, the most serious time of the cold war years by Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand to prevent the expansion of communism and the communization of the South-east Asia. In the early days, Asean adopted rivalry policy towards China. Since the end of the cold war, with the ease of international situation and the increase of mutual interests, China and Asean has been cooperated effectively in political ,economic, security fields, and Sino-Asean relations are in the best time with traits of grow rapidly, fully, institutionally, and in multilevel.With the breakthrough development of bilateral relations, China and ASEAN agree to push the relations further, establishing good neighbor and mutual-trust partnership in the 21century.This thesis analyzes the international backgrounds effecting Sino-ASEAN relations, exploring the characteristics of the post-cold war strategic partnership relations, and look into the future of the relations.This article is divided 3 parts:The first part is to analyze the reason of the hot relations between China and Association of Southeast Asian Nations including the International situation relaxing, the resolution to historical issues, the promotion of the common benefit, the economic agent urging and Chinese good-neighbourness diplomacy practice and so on.The second part is to show the characteristics of the relations between China and Association of Southeast Asian Nations after the cold war. After the cold war, China and CASAN launch the fruitful cooperation in politics, economy, and security and so on. The relations between them present some new traits such as fast, omni-directional, the institution and the multi-level.The third part is to inspect some factors that affect the China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations strategy partnership challenge such as South China Sea question, the Chinese people overseas Chinese question, the Taiwan problem, China threatens and so on.
