The development of internet technology is like a sword with double blades. On one hand it is a great tool for making and spreading culture and knowledge, on the other hand, it makes the pirate and illegally publishing become easier. As the current copyrights legislation could not cope with the high speedy development of the internet technology, the copyrights protection in the internet are continuously facing serious new challenges, and the problem of the protection of copyrights in the internet becomes more and more outstanding. Although law scholars at home and abroad show much concern on it, the fact is that lawmaking always lags behind the changes brought by new technologies. Therefore, the protection of copyrights in the internet has brought forth an important research field to more and more law researchers.This paper has five chapters.The preface makes introduction on the current situation of development of internet communication technology, and problems of internet copyrights caused by the technology development. It services as the background and basis for the whole dissertation.The first chapter is entitled "Definition of copyrights in the internet". In this chapter, it first gives introduction of copyrights development history from the origination of copyrights to copyrights in the internet; then it makes the discussion on the concept of copyrights in the internet and the differences with the traditional concept of copyrights; finally it summarizes the rights of copyrights in the internet and works in the internet which is the protected object of copyrights in the internet.The second chapter is entitled "The legislation situation of international internet copyrights protection". In this chapter, it analysis the related laws and regulations of internet copyrights through comparing the related international treaties and TRIPS agreement articles.
