Research On The Leisure Life Of Rural Migrant Workers

As a repaid right from the labor and one of life qualifications or human rights, Leisure and the way how to spend it have caught much more attentions by scholars. However, how the rural migrant workers spend their leisure time? This is the main topic of this thesis.Taking the medium city of Hefei of Anhui Province as an example, this thesis has examined the leisure time arrangement, activities, differences between sex, and subjective experience as well in detail and argued that it is to restore the physical strength and kill the time for them rather than the true leisure. Actually, they live in the characteristics as living model of homogeneity, leisure time of insufficiency, leisure activity of monotony, negative and passivity, leisure space of enclosure, leisure attitude of helpless and so on. Substantially, the leisure life of the rural migrant workers is almost no difference from that of peasantries. But, a part of rural migrant workers in new age have a little idea of leisure. They set the performances of the urban residents as the example group and begin to transfer from the traditional rural leisure idea towards the identification of modern urban civilization.Mainly, there are two reasons which caused the insufficiency of leisure consuming, that is, the structured and unstructured. The structured reasons include the general economical development level, the job they did, the persons they intercommunicate with, the limited activity places and so on. While the unstructured complications hold their culture and education background and the individual personality as well.The difficulty for the rural migrant workers to join in the modern urban life in leisure life concludes that they are still in marginalized in modern city, although they are closing and running to the latter.
