The bill of lading carrier is a new legal concept, whose legal position is different from traditional carriers. Therewith due to no provision on the bill of lading carrier is concerned in Chinese Maritime Code at present and no one studies on it deeply or defines it accurately, a lot of problems confronted in practice remain unsolved. To fulfill the request of jurisdiction, a sound regime of bill of lading carrier should be established in near future. This thesis makes a systematic study on the regime of bill of lading carrier.The regime of bill of lading carrier, a new concept comes into being with the development of marine practice, is different from either the contract carrier or the actual carrier, but bears important obligations in the carriage of goods by sea. Through the discussion on the concept, resources, legal position and rights and obligations, this thesis covers several aspects of the regime of bill of lading carrier.This thesis consists of five chapters. In Chapter One this thesis basically claries the concept, the resources of bill of lading carrier and the benefits brought by sounding this legal regime. Chapter Two introduces the factors which fuel the emergence of bill of lading carriers. Chapter Three is the main part of this thesis. In this chapter, under the direction of the theory of the Contract Law this thesis discusses the legal position of bill of lading carrier in the carriage of goods. On the basis of the legal position of bill of lading carrier, this thesis emphasizes the specific rights and obligations that shall be hold and bore by the bill of lading carrier under different circumstances in Chapter Four.
