Taking the relation of Media and political parties in Taiwan as its research content, this dissertation deals with the influence on media ecology by alternation of ruling parties through the method of content analysis. Comparing with the reports of the Unite Daily, Free Daily and China Daily during the election of county heads and the so-called Three-in-one election in 2005, this dissertation tries to analyze the political orientations of the above three newspapers and the relation of reports and the candidates'public images.KMT had been in power for more than half of a century, therefore it has rich resource among parties, government and army, even running media by itself. But now the KMT has become an out-party, the influence of party-run media is fading. As the time, the DPP enlarges its influence on media by all means. Will the content or methods of media reports change in line with alternation of ruling parties? If does, then how does it change? That's what this dissertation deals with.It shows that media focused more on KMT candidates and in 1997 when KMT was in power. However, media was in favor of DPP candidates in 2005 when media was controlled by DPP. The ways and contents of media reports do have changed in line with the alternation of ruling parties.During the local elections, media's coverage was uneven between ruling party and out-party. Media covered more on the candidates of the ruling party and the reports were usually in favor of them. To the candidates of out-party, media showed little interest. Official titles help the candidates with ruling party to be the focus of media. What's more, media already established a certain relationship with ruling party. All of that keep the challenger away from the focus of media's coverage. In the past, media were controlled by ruling party through legislation, censorship, warrant and closing media directly in main. Nowadays ruling party uses the economic means to control media in main and the means are more diversified and indirect.
