The Taiwan society has had huge vicissitude in the 70's, 80's of 20th century and what affected mutually with this kind of vicissitude is rising of all kinds of social movements. Among them, the women movements by Taiwan folk organization for women is quite representative.This article takes advantage of history, sociology and politics research methods synthetically to discuss the background, the active situation and the achievement of Taiwan women movements in the 70's, 80's of 20th century, as well as the relations between individual and social movements, taking Lu Hsiu-lien as the example. I draw the conclusions that: 1.social reforming on economy, politics and culture is the root of the rising of social movements. 2. On the one hand, individual can play the leader's role in social movements; on the other hand, individual (such as Lu Hsiu-lien) will take women movements as personal political resources.The whole text divides into five parts as following.Chapter One is the Introduction, which explains the origin of the research, the related concept, the research method and the summary of research results. Chapter Two describes the survey of entire society in the 70's, 80's of 20th century , especially the feminine status situation and discuss the interaction situation between Taiwan society reforming and the feminine condition to unfold social basis and social condition which the Taiwan women movements produces.Chapter Three introduces the overall survey of Taiwan social movements and the organizations, activities of women movements in the 70's, 80's of 20th century, especially outstanding that the social background , in which women movements occurred, is the rising of all kinds of social movements. And it finally concludes the characters, achievements and the developing direction of Taiwan women movements at that time.Chapter Four discusses the relation between Lu Hsiu-lien and the women movements, which firstly affirms Lu Hsiu-lien's leader status and function in the 1970's women movements, secondly shows that Lu Hsiu-lien took advantage of the female character fully to obtain political resources because the subject of women's participating in government obtained highlights after women movements.Chapter Five is the reference, which concludes the text and proposes the direction of thorough research.
