China's WTO entry protocol specifies special safeguard mechanism, which isquite different from WTO safeguard agreement and allows for other WTO membersto derogate basic principle of non-discrimination to apply safeguard measures onlytargeted at products originating from china. With China's growing power ininternational trade, Other WTO members formulated or revised relevant laws orregulations to cover China safeguard in their domestic legislations successively.China safeguard cases are on the rapid rise. exerting negative impact on china'sexport.This thesis is divided into six chapters focusing on clarifying relationshipbetween China safeguard and WTO safeguard, WTO member domestic legislationsregarding China Safeguard and Case Studies. Chapter one is a brief introduction ofsafcguard. Chapter two contributes to special safeguard provisions stipulated in theprotocol and working party report. Chapter three is comparative study of WFOsafeguard and China Safeguard concentrating on their differences andcomplementarities with initial analysis on which clauses in WTO safeguard can becomplementary to China safeguard. Chapter four is comparative study on the US. EUand Canada's domestic legislations in respect of China safeguard. Chapter five isChina safeguard case studies.
