As the philosophical base of Indonesian foundation, Pancasila not only indicates Javanese culture's core value of respecting nature, advocating harmony and emphasizing hierarchy, but also absorbs its typical expression ways of perceptual comprehension. Functionally, this can easily arouse sympathy of Indonesian and bring great tolerance and adaptability to Pancasila, but its vague expression results in its uncertainty in application. That can be proved by the fact that presidents Sukamo and Suharto who both took Pancasila as guiding ideology though they adopted different diplomacy.During Sukamo's presidency, he adopted relatively powerful diplomacy which is the reflection of national equality in Pancasila, for example, he held Bandung conference and made Indonesia confront with Malaysia, and so on. Whereas Suharto took office, he adopted relatively moderate diplomacy that is the reflection of advocating harmony in Pancasila, for example, he proposed overall security conception in national defense and advocated principle of consultation and consensus in area cooperation.Just because of this above feature, Pancasila is always taken as the foundation and guiding ideology, no matter who is the president. Obviously, it becomes the useful way of studying Indonesian diplomacy. So, when specifically analyzing Pancasila's influence on Indonesia, we must not only notice its sequence of being Indonesian political culture, but also its application in different periods.
