At the beginning of 2006, the organization of terrorism, Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), was very notorious to become the universal focus again. The main reason for that was the Palestinian second legislative election in January 25, instead of the shocking bloody detonation that they had made or abducting Israelis and asking for something. In this legislative election, Hamas had won 74 out of the 132 seats, going far beyond the ruling party Fatah's 45 seats and the total 13 seats of other 4 parties and the independents. Hamas had got over 50% seats so that the organization could have independent power to make cabinet. Hamas made a successful transformation into a legitimate political party through this election. This "political earthquake" in Middle East had aroused heavy waves for a while. Fatah could not rule the Palestinian alone anymore. Israeli cabinet held the emergency meeting immediately. American President Bush started to react. European countries like England, France, Italy and so on also took their stands immediately. The overseas media reports about Hamas and the information network were like the snowflake and Hamas became an essential part of the important issue of 2006.This thesis, which comes out as my graduation paper, has been divided into 4 chapters. The content of the introduction chapter includes 1) defining the conception of "terrorism", 2) demonstrating the domestic and overseas present research of Hamas, 3) discussing the significance of the research method and 4) showing the creative ideas of this article.Chapter 1 is a description of the total situation and the process of development of Hamas. In general, it contains three aspects, 1) the principle, 2) the leader and 3) the organization. The process of the development is divided into five stages which include 1) the branch of "Muslim Brotherhood", 2) the establishment of Hamas movement officially, 3) striving for power by making terrorism to oppose the peace talks between Palestine and Israel, 4) growing up once more in the insurgence, and 5) winning the second legislative election.Chapter 2 gives the Hamas movement a systemic study through three different questions. Firstly, the characteristics of this movement are being analyzed from different perspectives (e.g. political, religious, national, terroristic, welfare, regional and international characteristics). Secondly, the reasons for Hamas to win the election are being examined. I believe that the intrinsic factor would be the characteristics of Hamas movement itself. The extrinsic factor would be the mistake on the political policy made by US and Israel. The direct factor would be the discarding of Fatah which was the only adversary of Hamas by Palestinians. Finally, I looked into 1) the influences that Hamas won the election on itself, 2) the political issues of Palestine and Israel and 3) the situation of Middle East, US as well as Russia. In the summary, I conclude that the characteristics of Hamas movement were the basis of the full text. These characteristics came from the actions of this movement and I used them to analyze the reasons and influences of these actions. I hope the reader can understand Hamas movement comprehensively, accurately and objectively through my thesis and can use this analytical method to study other international political issues.
