Palestinian-Israeli issue is the core of Middle East problems as well as a hot issuewins attention of international society. Hamas, the biggest radical Islamic organizationin Palestine, occupies an important position in Palestinian politics and exerts a vitalinfluence on Palestinian-Israeli issue.Hamas emerged at the right moment in the First Palestinian Uprisings in1987.During its twenty years’ development, its ideology and practice sees a trend ofmoderation and pragmatism with the impact of Palestinian internal and externalfactors. With respect to ideology, Hamas began to stress the ethnic contradiction otherthan religious one between Jews and Palestinians. Also, it suggested Hudna andbecame willing to accept two-state solution and interim-solution. With respect topractice, Hamas participated in the PLC’s election in2006, becoming a legal partyfrom a so-called “terrorist organization” and a ruling party from an opposition faction.Hamas’ continuous development makes it the only political power whose poweris comparable with Fatah. However, the two factions differ on the ways to fightagainst Israel and the plan of founding a Palestinian state. What’s more, theycompeted intensively for political power. Meanwhile, they could sit down andcooperated to fight against Israel and establish a unity government. The thesis arguesthat the reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah is a precondition for thePalestinian-Israeli peace talks. The achievements of peace talks could not been putinto practice without their reconciliation and Hamas’ participation. It is meaningful toinvolve Hamas in such a peace talk. The Middle East Upheaval started at the end of2010transformed the regionalstructure. The influences of regional powers shifted and are still in flux. Also, theIslamist powers experienced ups and downs. In addition, the sectarian contradictionsintensified. The thesis maintains that the changed regional structure implies bothopportunity and challenge for Hamas. On the one hand, Hamas has to face the toughrealities: the marginalization of the Palestine issue, the decreasing popular support and the intensified internal contradiction. On the other hand, Hamas should seize theopportunity for the regional Islamists’ powers are rising and some Sunni Arabcountries began to refresh their relationships with Hamas.China is a rising global power and should hold scientific and just position oninternational issues, particularly the hot issues, which is also an inevitablerequirement to establish a great national image. Concerning its great influence onPalestinian politic and Palestinian-Israeli issue, the research on Hamas embraces withcertain significance.
