The Chinese New Natianalism Thought Trend And Its Influence To Foreign Relations

The nationalism is one of the most important and influential political thought trend today in the world. As a kind of idea ideology and society practice movement, it has the important influence to the economy development and foreign relations of the nation-state. Because China hasn't yet achieved modernization, the Chinese new nationalism rising in the 1990's, may provide the formidable cohesive force, but simultaneously the nationalism which is a handle double-edged sword, also has its own limitation. Therefore, it is no doubt beneficial to make a rational and systematical analysis to the Chinese new nationalism thought trend and its influence to foreign relations, construct the peaceful and open, free and democratic nationalism, and lead it to develop toward the correct direction, thus make it become the boosting of China modernization.This thesis is divided into five chapters totally. Chapter 1 presents the research background and the significance, and collects the internal and foreign research results; Chapter 2 illuminates several core concepts in the text, analyzes the research system of the Marxist nation theories, and explains the differences and relations between nationalism and patriotism; Chapter 3 makes a systematic investigation from the development process, the arisen reason, the characteristics and the value status these four aspects of the Chinese new nationalism; Chapter 4 discusses the influence of the Chinese new nationalism upon the government foreign relations, in connection with the China-Japan, China-America relations since 90's last century; In chapter 5, the author proposes to construct the peaceful and open, free and democratic nationalism, carry on the correct patriotic education, lead the Chinese new nationalism to develop toward the rational and healthy direction. The creation of this thesis consists of three aspects: First, this thesis puts together the nationalism theories and the international relations to form an analytical frame that has higher theories to be worth, and it analyzes the relationship between Chinese new nationalism and the government diplomatic decision-making, in connection with the rising nationalism thought trend of anti-Japan and anti-America; Second, this thesis roundly and dialectically analyzes the implemental position and double-face functions of current Chinese new nationalism ;Third, this thesis affirms the development path choice of the liberalistic nationalism, and puts forward to set up the peaceful and open, free and democratic nationalism, sparkplugs the rational patriotism, then the author gives some related suggestions aimed at our government how to cope with current new nationalism.
