Security is the primary concern in a country's diplomacy. The security troubles existing in the a bilateral relationship will, however, prevent us from defending our security, and at the same time, do harm to the economic and social development as well. Both China and Japan are important countries in east Asia, even in the world. In the long river of history, there were sincere fi-iendships and cruel wars between them. But almost in every war, China was invaded by Japan. At the beginning of 21st century, on the one hand, Japan is striving for military and political leading power; on the other hand, its attitudes toward the issues of the history and Fishing Island are becoming tough and stubborn. Certainly these conditions cause Chinese people and government to concern about the trend of Japanese strategy in the future. Japanese government not only introspects its invasive history deeply, but also distorts the history textbook incessantly, beautifies invasive war and even condemns Chinese historical education. Distrust and enmity intensify gradually so that Japan worries about the increase of Chinese military power, and vice versa. The danger of the Sino-Japanese security dilemma has a tendency to intensify. The history and reality indicate that, for Japan and China, peace will benefit both, while war will harm both. In the new century, to be good friends and neighbors forever, is the mutual wish of Chinese and Japanese. It accords with both countries' fundamental and mutual interests not to fight for ever. To fulfill this aim, which depends on the endeavors of two countries' governments and people, we should lay emphasis on all kinds of frictions and contradictions which hinder the healthy development of Sino-Japanese relations; we should also observe the historical evolution of the two countries from a broader angle so that we can grasp the future trend of Sino-Japan relations calmly and objectively. In this essay, we will first give an exact definition to the security dilemma in terms of international relation theory and then make detailed analyses in three aspects theorically. We will attach great importance to the phenomenon, causes and damages of Sino- Japan relationship after the Cold War, mainly basing on the historical problems and Taiwan issues.Last part analyzes the way out for security dilemma, then analyzes the way out for the Sino-Japanese security dilemma from both Chinese and Japanese angles and combines Chinese and Japanese mutual interests to look for the way out for the Sino-Japanese security dilemma.
