Taking a whole view of Mao Zedong's exploration of socialist construction after the founding of the People's Republic of China, it was composed of successful experience and lessons of failure, which was a process from correctness to error. The main reason for the errors lies in that Mao Zedong's analysis, adjudgement and orientation of social major contradiction and working center was increasingly divorced from objective reality in his late years.Mao Zedong's exploration of domestic major contradictions and working centers undergone five stages: the first is the period of three years'economic recovery which began with the foundation of the People's Republic of China and ended in the accomplishment of Land Reform; the second is the period of Socialist Transformation; the third is the period from the Eighth National Party Congress to the Third Plenary Session of the Eighth Central Committee; the fourth is the period from the Third Plenary Session of the Eighth Central Committee to the period of economic adjustment ; the fifth is the period of the Great Culture Revolution. The first three stages are the period of Mao Zedong's right exploration on major contradiction and working center in recognition and practice.The fourth stage is the period in which his recognition of major contradiction and working center deviated from the objective reality gradually and the change of social major contradiction during the Third Plenary Session of the Eighth Central Committee symbolized the turning of Mao Zedong's recognition; During the period of the Great Culture Revolution, Mao Zedong's recognition of major contradiction was absolutely erroneous.As regards the interrelationships between objective reality and subjective understanding and practice, there lie in four kinds of states in Mao Zedong's recognition and practice on domestic major contradictions and working centers: the most ideal state with inherent consistency between objectivity and subjectiveness and practice; the comparatively ideal state with consistency between objectivity and practice but with lack of subjective knowledge; the comparatively ideal state with consistency between objectivity and practice but with erroneous subjective knowledge; the least ideal state in which both subjective knowledge and practice are severely divorced from objective reality.Mao Zedong's recognition of domestic major contradictions and working centers after the founding of the PRC brings us profound revelations. Firstly, we must have a correct understanding of domestic major contradictions according to national conditions so as to determine working center and keep subjectiveness in accord with objectivity as far as possiblie. Secondly, it is no need to make husty decisions when subjectiveness recognition is uncertain or unclear, at the same time we should determine working center according to objectivity and take some measures to solve practical problems. Thirdly, as far as practice is concerned, we shouldn't ignore minor contradictions while paying closly attention to major contradictions and working centres ; while solving the minor contradictions, the measures taken to solve minor contradictions should be served for our working center and not interfere with it.
