This book is an effort to study European Integration. I analyze not only the actuality, but also the past and future of integration. My focus is the visualization of Grand Europe; however, I also pay much attention to the commonness and individuality of the integration strategies, and the integration process and foreign policy related to the unity of Europe. This study has seven main chapters, a preface and a conclusion chapter. The preface defines basic concepts related to the crucial visual angles of the book (geo-politics and political culture). The text consists of three main parts altogether. The first part(Chapter 1,2 and 3)explores the origin and impetus of integration, and concludes that three basic internal factors drive the process: the continuity of common civilization and identity, the evolution of European countries'combination patterns, and the unite of integration theories and practices. The second par(tChapter 4,5 and 6)conveys integration standpoints of EU's three main political branches respectively ("supranationalism"or"intergovernmentalism"?"Europeanism"or"Atlanticism"?), and discusses the reasons for different integration attitudes of"Troika"within EU(France, Germany and Britain). The third part (Chapter 7)demonstrates the motivations of Mid-East European countries who strive to"return"to Europe. In this chapter, I also comment the enlargement of EU.In the conclusion chapter, I overlook the development of EU-China relations and its sense. On the basis of the analysis upon integration means and Trans-Atlantic relationship, I try to forecast the political structure of Europe in the future. The book brings forth new ideas in several aspects: Firstly, doing an overall research of European Integration with comparatively concise angles of view. Secondly, attaching importance to current affairs, especially those ones occurred in the so-called"new European"area. Thirdly, foreseeing the evolution of political structure of Europe in the new era, and making some feasible suggestions by utilizing what we have found in the study.
