The Theoretical Researchment Of Offensive Realism

The great changes of Soviet Union and East Europe marked the disintegration ofthe bilateral polarization. With the rounding of how to explain and forecast the world,international relation theories absorb the experience and draw lessons from historyand reality in order to structure and enrich themselves so that they could gain thelegality and rationality. Through the analysis and researchment of offensive realism,this article expounds the logical starting point and the basic standpoint of offensiverealism, exposes the relationships between offensive realism and security dilemma,distinguishes the differences between security dilemma and prisoner dilemma, on thebasis of that this article criticizes it systematically and profoundly. It comes to aconclusion that the essence of offensive realism is in the"extreme"of realism, its stilland tragic conception of history is running in the opposite direction to the inexorabletrend of the future development of human beings. Offensive realism exercises certaininfluence over the foreign policies of the U.S. especially the point of"China threatentheory", which needs the party in power improving the capabilities of replying theinternational situation, conducting international affairs and dealing with internationalcrisis. Of course, we should also recognize that offensive realism enriches replenishesand develops realism in some degree, the several inspirations of it worth us using forreference.
