Computer crime is defined as the conduct which imperils the safety of computer system being used by operating the computer or other methods and is so harmful to the society that needs to be punished by penalty. This paper analyses computer crime from the following aspects:First, the present situation of computer crime. Since the 80`s of 20th century, the incidence of computer crime cases increase rapidly. It is not a rare type of crime any more and very different from traditional crimes from the perspective of society harmfulness.Second, the characteristics of computer crime. It is a brand new type of crime and compared with other crimes, it has many features such as the intelligentization of the subject of crime, the technicalization of methods, the virtualization of the crime process, the diversification of the object, the severity of society harmfulness and the high quantity of concealed cases.Third, the categories, causes and countermeasures of computer crime. It can be classified from two perspectives: criminal law and criminology. The former can be divided into china's criminal law computer crime and comparative law computer crime. While the later can be categorized from case nature, conduct feature and crime motive. The cause of computer crime includes the vulnerable computer information system techniques, the force from great politics, economic, and financial interests, the lure of low risk and the posterity of the moral system and law for net space. The countermeasures to computer crime includes improving the legislation on computer crime, strengthening the organization building, setting international cooperate system and acteristics of computer crime.
