Research Situation And Characteristics Of Chinese Women Studies From 1996 To 2000

The years from 1996 to 2000 are an important period in the history of Chinese women studies. Requirements of social reality in transformation period and stimulated by the 4^th world conference on women, has formed a high tide of women studies together. Chinese society is in the new transition period after more than ten years, and there is new challenge by new changes and diverse manifestation of social question about women. So it is necessary to ponder the condition and in-depth influence factor about women studies at that time return. ALMANAC OF CHINESE WOMEN'S STUDIES (1996--2000) provided for the author accurate, comprehensive and historical data information which published in the end of 2004.It is possible to summary the overall condition and research characteristic of women studies during 1996-2000, and than provide some reference for enhancing the research level and developing the entire humanities.Taking the index paper of ALMANAC OF CHINESE WOMEN'S STUDIES (1996-2000) as the sample ,this article makes the thorough analysis about Chinese women studies' general picture, characteristics, new breakthrough and the problems by literature retrieval law, statistical analytic method, content analytic method, comparison analytic method. Below draws the main conclusion: 1. General trend: studies on women are making progress on such aspects as construction on courses about women, research topic, and methodology. Quantity of indexing thesis is curve declining only. Research focus was concert by women researchers and the whole society.2. Characteristics: Chinese women studies show some commonness such as: universality, reality, continuity and modernity; while women studies during 1996-2000 has its individuality—social functionality.3. New breakthroughs: New context including cultural globalization, academic environment open and diverse, women studies were marching towards mainstream. The new concepts, theories and conclusions were appeared which meaning liberation.4. At last, the article summary of existent problems of Chinese women studies briefly.Innovations of this article: after certain interpretive distance, on the basis of functional analyzing paradigm and Gadamer's Hermeneutics, re-consider historical document of women studies, in order to polling internal rules and revelation of women studies.
