In a period of more than 2,000 years, Chinese and Japanese, the two great nations, have enjoyed a long-term friendly relationship. However, since the beginning of the modern times, from the start of Sino-Japanese War to the end of World War Two, China has suffered a lot from the invasion of Japanese military. In 1972, the normalization of diplomatic ties between China and Japan was brought to concern, and since then, the Sino-Japanese relationship has moved forward to a bright future. Having developed for over 30 years, this relationship, with the joint efforts of the both governments and their people, has been smoothly furthered, in spite of certain disharmonious factors.Today, Japan is still the second largest nation in term of economic scale and influence. Also, it is overall the best developed country among compared to its neighbor countries. The "Sino-Japanese relationship" has been holding and will continue to hold an essential position in China's diplomacy, directly relating to the international environment, in which the Chinese nation survives and develops. However, since 1990s, the Sino-Japanese relationship has encountered another problem, i.e. the so-called "Cold Politics and Warm Economy"—on one hand, the business ties between China and Japan has getting closer. Surpassing the United States, China has become Japan's biggest individual trading partner since 2004. Meanwhile, the amount of Japanese investment in China has accounted for more or less 10% of the total foreign investment on the mainland for years. On the other hand, owing to the rampant remarks and behaviors of the extreme right-wing forces in Japan, conflicts between the two countries have been no longer in partial area anymore. The attitudes and practices of those Japanese towards the issues concerning history, Taiwan and visiting Yasukuri Shrine have deeply hurt the feelings of Chinese people and have made the Sino-Japanese relationship become more complicated. The improvement and development of Sino-Japanese relationship require an objective attitude towards history. Supporting the principle of there is only one China become the political foundation of this relationship. And the further going of the Japanese rightist politics would probably lead to some setbacks in the process of Sino-Japanese relationship building. Therefore, proceeding from the National interests, the two countries should manage to lead the public opinion to a correct direction so as to prevent the interference of extreme nationalism. Moreover, both China and Japan should earnestly enhance their bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various sectors, and strive to convert the "Cold Politics and Warm Economy" situation into a new stage of "Mutual Promotion of Politics and Economy".
