An IPE Analysis On American Arms Sales

In the present international situation, the trend of economic globalization and political multipolarity is developing further, and economy and politics integrate tightly. When one country establishes its foreign economic policies, It not only considers native economic interest, but its political interest, and when one country establishes foreign political strategy, it would also consider native economic interest. So, the interactive phenomenon of economy and politics has become common. International political economy is the theory that studies the relation of politics and economy internationally, as a theory ,It explains the interactive phenomenon of economy and politics efficiently. There is a saying in the field of learning that if you want to be a scholar of IRS, you must be a scholar of IPE first.First, the thesis indicates detailedly the theory that explains the interactive phenomenon ofeconomy and politics internationally. Then using one faction of the theory of IPE--realisminternational political economy to analyze American arms sales. Last, on the background of American arms sales and the theory of IPE, the thesis analyzes the political and strategic aims of American arms sales to Taiwan.There are five parts in the thesis, the preface mainly introduces the reasons why I choose this topic, the study status of this topic home and abroad, and the study ways and values. In the first chapter, the thesis defines the concept of the interactive phenomenon of economy and politics, then introduces the development course of the interactive phenomenon of economy and politics, then mainly explains the political function of international trades after World War Two .Last, indicates the concept of IPE, development course and study ways. In the second chapter, the thesis first introduces the kinds and characters of American arms sales, then analyzes the economy and international political reasons of American arms sales . In the third chapter, on the background of American arms sales, the thesis introduces the historical course of American arms sales to Taiwan, then analyzes the political and strategic reasons in detail. In the last part, the thesis expresses the new situation of American arms sales to Taiwan, on the background of the current international situation ,the relation of Sino- U.S and the current political situation in the Taiwan Island , then forecasts the policies of American arms sales to Taiwan in the further.
