After the cold war, the United States constantly adjusted the policies toward Taiwan according to its strategic benefits. In the process of dealing with the relations across the Taiwan Strait (ARATS), The Pro-Taiwan policy of the USA promotes the weight of relationship between American and Taiwan. In the year of 2000, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) came into power, which sticks to Taiwan independence. The American strategy of ARATS became clear and its"one-China"policy tends to be inane. The United States is the most important factor of external disturbance in the settlement of Taiwan problem. The adjustment and change of its policy toward Taiwan Strait must have great influence on the both parties'policies of Taiwan Strait and the tendency of ARATS.The article, from the point of penetration of so called"in status quo"----- the nature of American policies towards Taiwan Strait after the DPP coming into power, systematically studies and analyzes the traits of American policy adjustment toward Taiwan Strait, and its influence on ARATS. The author also puts forward his own thinking and suggestion of future strategies toward Taiwan and toward the United States.
