The purpose of this paper is to study the contents and characters of Australia's policy toward China after the Cold War and it's influence. This paper reviews main aspects of Australia's policy toward China by regarding the time order of each government after the Cold War as longitude and the politics policy, human right policy, security policy and economics policy of Australia toward China as latitude and resorting the study method of literature analysis, historical study and International political economy.On the basis of former works and sufficient data, this paper gets the following conclusions: after the Cold War, Australia's policy toward China took on staggered changes, Kating's government pursued friendly policy toward China, Howard's former term adopted congagement policy, his last term pursued balance between America and China. Australia's policy toward China took on contradictions and pragmatism. Policies of Labor Party and Liberal Party toward China took on great differences. Australia's policy toward China was influenced by difference of regime, power and developmengt level between Australia and China, and America factor etc comprehensive factors. One side, Australia's political policy toward China drived relations between the two countries forward, the other side made their relations frustrated. It's economical policy drived their economical relations develop rapidly, linkages of their trade and investment combine tightly. At the same time, it greatly influenced Asian and Pacific international relations among China, America and Japanese and relations between Australia and ASEAN.
